New hire will manage off-campus student housing properties in Auburn, Myrtle Beach, Statesboro, and Rock Hill
RALEIGH, NC – August 2, 2012 – The Preiss Company is proud to announce the recent appointment of Steven Lewis to Southeast Regional Manager. In his role, Lewis will oversee the overall operations of six off-campus student housing properties plus one new development, create and implement all site budgets, evaluate daily marketing efforts, and adjust leasing rates based on market fluctuations or leasing velocity.
Lewis has over 12 years of student housing experience, spanning 20 markets in 10 states. Prior to joining The Preiss Company, he was a Regional Manager with American Campus Communities, the nation's largest developer, owner, and manager of high-quality student housing communities. In his position, Lewis managed eight properties and 70 employees. He helped develop and implement budgets and marketing plans for all sites and worked with site staff to ensure that the properties’ fiscal needs were met and positive NOI growth was achieved while pushing rate growth.
Lewis received his Business Degree from North Carolina State University with a minor in Marketing and Graphic Communications. As Southeast Regional Manager, he will manage the operations of the company’s properties in Auburn, AL (The Cambridge at Auburn, University Village at Auburn, and University Heights at Auburn), Statesboro, GA (University Village at Southern), Myrtle Beach, SC (University Village at the Coast), and Rock Hill, SC (University Place). Lewis said that he is looking forward to being involved in a smaller, more “family-oriented” company that will allow him to be more involved with aspects of student housing development that was not afforded to him in his previous positions.
“Being involved in new development is something that I have always wanted to be a part of and with The Preiss Company, I hope to be a voice and active part of new developments and acquisitions,” says Lewis. “I expect that my 12 years of experience in the student housing industry can provide The Preiss Company with new ideas to streamline and standardize overall operations as the company grows to ensure not only portfolio growth, but overall economic growth as well.”
Company founder and CEO, Donna Priess, says that Lewis’ background and expansive housing experience make him a strong addition to the company’s leadership team.
“The Preiss Company continues its business plan by attracting talented people upon which we can continue to grow a scalable infrastructure,” says Preiss. “The Preiss Company has grown 30% per year for each of the past three years. We have an incredible development and acquisition pipeline and are adding the necessary leadership to be successful. Steven will be an integral part of our growth. We are excited about his organized approach to property management, his integrity, and his passion for student housing.”
The Preiss Company currently operates in eight states (North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Maryland, Illinois, Texas, and Pennsylvania) and in 11 markets. The company has been a multi-year recipient of the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce's coveted Pinnacle Business Award, winner of the Metro Bravo Award for Residential Real Estate, and winner of the Triangle Fast 50 Award for fastest growing company.
