The Preiss Company Offers ECU Students a Chance to Live in Five-Star Style
Monday January 23, 2006
Raleigh, NC – January 23, 2006 – The Preiss Company (TPCO), the largest housing provider of off-campus student housing at North Carolina State University, has begun pre-leasing space at their new off-campus community—North Campus Crossing (NCC). The 324-unit apartment complex features 1, 2, 3, and 4-bedroom units, state-of-the-art Recreation, Entertainment, and Activity Center (REAC), resort-style pools, and clubhouse. NCC is five minutes from East Carolina University’s main campus with dedicated bus lines.
“I can’t say enough about this property,” says Amy Barger, TPCO’s Marketing Director. “Just one look at NCC and you can see where the future of off-campus housing is going. It’s truly five-star living without the five-star price tag.”
TPCO is handling the leasing, marketing, and management of NCC. Rent starts at $425 per person per month, with move in expected to begin in early May 2006. Apartments are fully furnished and offer residences their own private bath. When seeking refuge from studying, residents can enjoy the abundant amenities of the REAC including full, half, and quarter-court basketball courts, indoor volleyball court, Nautilus-style weight and cardio room, aerobics room, and tanning bed. When the weather permits, the community’s zero-entry, heated pools feature spillover waterfalls and a large, garden-style hot tub. An expansive deck offers elevated grass lounging areas, as well as an open-air gazebo.
Says TPCO Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Donna Preiss, “The Preiss Company wants to differentiate itself and its student communities by delivering ‘destination quality’ sites, student concierge services, and technologies that are not found in any other community. We challenge ourselves each year to provide more hard and soft amenities than any other student-housing provider. We have found that the Echo Boomer population, through its use of the Internet, will be attracted and will stay longer as a result of these efforts.”
Laurie Stanley, Director of Property Management for TPCO, doesn’t foresee many new off-campus housing communities offering the kind of extravagance that NCC will provide its residents, but does see these kinds of amenities being more prevalent as student housing becomes more competitive. “Today’s college students are more savvy and discerning,” says Stanley, “They want and expect more than the students of twenty, ten, or even five years ago. These young adults want their entire college experience to be first rate, which means quality education and quality living.”
In addition to NCC’s already extensive list of offerings and features, East Carolina University is developing the nation’s largest intramural and sports club facility adjacent to the off-campus community. Once completed, NCC residents will be able to take advantage of soccer and baseball fields, rugby, football, Frisbee, golf, tennis, volleyball, and challenge courses. The facility will also feature a lake with a beach.
NCC is a continuation of TPCO's business plan of growing its presence throughout the Southeast. It also fits with the company's goal of being the largest off-campus provider in each of the markets that it selects. TPCO is looking at acquiring and developing a presence at three additional universities this year in both North and South Carolina.
